Drywall Repair & Preparation

A repaired wall should be assessed as a whole surface, not just a filled hole. The patch, its edges, texture and primer all affect what you see after painting. We review local damage and larger repair needs so the finishing scope matches the condition of the wall or ceiling.

Preparation with a purpose.

01 /

Identify the damage

Distinguish small dents, loose tape, holes and larger damaged sections. Recurring cracks or water damage need their cause reviewed before cosmetic repair is agreed.

02 /

Build the repair

Select a patch or replacement approach for the opening. Larger repairs may require backing and new board; drywall installation is assessed and itemized rather than automatically included.

03 /

Blend the transition

Treat the joint or patch, allow the chosen compound to set or dry as required, and feather the repair into the surrounding plane. Sand without damaging the adjacent surface.

04 /

Prepare for decoration

Remove residue and prime the repaired material as appropriate. Discuss whether an entire wall or ceiling needs repainting to reduce differences in colour and sheen.

Planning your project

What affects your quote?

A quote should reflect the condition and complexity of your space. We assess these factors before confirming pricing.

  • Number, size and location of damaged areas
  • Board replacement and backing requirements
  • Existing texture and quality of earlier repairs
  • Ceiling height and access around fixtures
  • How much surrounding surface needs priming or repainting

Questions about drywall repair.

Can you repair holes left by plumbing or electrical work?

Yes, subject to assessment of the opening and completion of the underlying work. The quote identifies backing, board replacement and finishing needed to make the surface ready for decoration.

Will a patch disappear with a small paint touch-up?

Not always. Existing paint ages, and repaired material can absorb paint differently. Priming and repainting a full wall or ceiling may produce a more consistent result than a small touch-up.

Can you fix a water-stained ceiling?

First confirm the source of water has been resolved and assess the material condition. The repair and stain treatment can then be scoped; covering an active leak is not a repair.

Does this include installing new drywall?

Installation is assessed separately. Small replacement sections and larger new-board work have different requirements, so we define what is included before proceeding.
